No, you are NOT seeing things. This week the NHL is airing a match most nights. The catch-22 is this though: they are joining the late match in progress, so you'll likely only see the 3rd Period on NHL Network if it is a late night slot. Here's your weekly schedule.

Tuesday, November 10
7:30 PM- Buffalo Sabres at Tampa Bay Lightning (NBCSN) Gord Miller, Brian Engblom
Wednesday, November 11
7:30 PM- Montreal Canadiens at Pittsburgh Penguins (NBCSN) Mike Emrick, Eddie Olczyk, Pierre McGuire
11:30 PM- Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks (NHL-JIP) John Ahlers, Brian Hayward
Thursday, November 12
12 AM- New York Islanders at Los Angeles Kings (NHL-JIP) Bob Miller, Jim Fox
Friday, November 13
11:30 PM- New York Islanders at Anaheim Ducks (NHL-JIP) John Ahlers, Brian Hayward
Saturday, November 14
7 PM- Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins (NHL) Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond
11:30 PM- Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings (NHL-JIP) Bob Miller, Jim Fox
Sunday, November 15

10 PM- Calgary Flames at Chicago Blackhawks (NHL-JIP) Pat Foley, Eddie Olczyk
Why all the JIP's?
ReplyDeleteI can only assume that NHL Network is trying to get a larger audience later in the night by showing more live games from the West Coast.
DeleteMLB Network has done the same thing with their late games on Saturday, but it's usually because of exclusivity windows.
I don't know if this is just this week or is this is going to become the norm, but the JIP's this week are typically the third period time, meaning you can watch the game to its conclusion.
