  1. Thanks, Dan! I wouldn't have even known about these games if you haven't posted them.

Right now, the Bremond vs. Iraan game is still going on. I tuned in during the Iraan drive just completed, which led to a touchdown. I also found out that the school just had a tragic bus crash which, I think, killed some cheerleaders and/or band members.

So this is one case where the outcome of the game won't matter too much. If Iraan wins, it would be the ultimate feel-good story. But if not, just everyone coming together in the school and the community is triumph enough.

    1. I live a mere 80 minutes from Iraan. It was the head cheerleading sponsor that lost her life on the way back from the state quarterfinal game. 4 cheerleaders were sent to the hospital in Lubbock with injuries as well as the second cheerleading sponsor.

Every town and community in West Texas raised money to help them out. In the end enough money was raised where the cost of the hospital bills for those 5 is nothing. Likewise all the funeral costs were covered.

Last week for the semifinal every cheerleading squad in and around West Texas went to Shotwell to support the Braves. Among them- four universities: Sul Ross State, Angelo State, UTPB, and West Texas A&M. Shotwell's home side seats roughly 7500. The home side was sold out. All of us support the Braves, and while they may have lost todays final, we all know what the most important thing is- rallying to assist those in need.
