March Madness 2013: WBI 1st Round Schedule & streaming info

The WNIT isn't the only women's basketball tournament sponsored outside of the women's NCAA Postseason Tournament. Back in 2009 the WBI was created.

To be honest I had never heard of the WBI until last year. I was thinking to myself it is completely unfair that the men's game had 146 teams making postseason tourneys whereas the women's game only had 128. It was when I was looking at Wiipedia of all places that I found out about the WBI.

Much like the CiT does, the WBI has mostly mid-majors competing for their crown. Only 16 teams qualify. When you add it all up though, it comes to only 2 less teams competing in the postseason compared to the men's side.

The WBI doesn't have any type of TV partner, so the only way you can usually catch the games is by radio affiliates carrying the games. That won't stop us here at Eye on Sky and Air Sports from letting you know when you can find the games though. It's all part of our effort to be the Atomic Reach site that provides you the most March Madness broadcast info anywhere.

In addition to the 3 games being streamed online, the following teams are offering audio broadcasts: Lamar, Mercer, Utah State, Eastern Kentucky, McNeese State, Belmont, and St. Francis [PA]. So the only game with no video or audio coverage is College of Charleston at Northern Kentucky. March Madness 2013: WNIT First Round Matches & TV Schedule

The Women's NIT is kind of a forgotten gem in women's basketball. Not only does it field 64 teams (the same amount as combining the men's NIT and CiT together after they increased the women's NIT from 48 teams in 2010), but it actually does the same thing as the old NIT for the first few rounds- it is done on a regional basis. This saves teams travel costs, but it also puts together closer rivals than you often see. For example they could have done a BYU/ Utah match, but those two play each other every year. On the other hand Idaho State has played BYU a few times, but they aren't a traditional rival.

Perhaps the biggest disrespect for the women's NIT is the lack of TV time. Sure, the championship is shown on CBS Sports Network, and last year so was one of the semi's. In terms of coverage though, there are some games that don't even have audio available. It's a sad shame for the fans across the country that can't make it to their teams games. However it is a forgotten tournament for most people unless you have a team involved in the tourney.

Well not only do I have a team involved in the tourney, but with some time to spare it is easy enough to compile a list of the first round games for all are interested. If the game has an online video stream I have included a link to that stream. For the record 1 game will even be shown on national TV, and it should be no surprise considering they showed two WNIT games on national TV back in 2011.

The announcers for the TV broadcast are listed, but since I don't know if these online streams use radio broadcasters or use the public scoreboard, then I have chosen just to show the link. March Madness: NAIA Division 1 men's semi's & Championship & women's championship

Here at Eye on Sky and Air Sports we are all about equal opportunity, despite the conference or affiliation you may be in. Last week we posted the information about the NAIA Division 2 Championships. Why wouldn't we do the same for the NAIA Division 1 Championship?

For the first time ever, the NAIA Division 1 men's semifinals will be shown not on PPV service but on ESPN3. The women's semi's remain available by PPV. The action kicks off tonight at 6 PM and goes until 10 PM Tuesday night with a grand total of 4 games.

Our third tournament to keep an eye on in the CBI. AXS TV is the exclusive broadcaster of the CBI. However AXS only broadcasts 2 games a day. As a result, you will have quite a few games that are only available on the radio. Should the CBI allow any of these other teams to broadcast the game on local TV or online, then I will post it here.

March Madness 2013: NCAA Tournament Week 1 TV & Radio Schedule

Welcome to Eye on Sky and Air Sports. I'm sure most people have no idea who I am or why I am doing this. Simply put, last year I noticed most of the announcing assignments for TV coverage were listed online, but most of the radio assignments weren't. I wanted to try and do something to resolve that. I realize I'm no where close to including all the national radio affiliates yet, but I am slowly getting there. As a result, Eye on Skky and Air Sports was born? How'd I come up with the name? Simple put- I was keeping an EYE ON the sports SKY AND focusing on the radio AIRwaves for SPORTS. This year I decided to start including the TV assignments as well since I was providing the college football broadcast list to Awful Announcing. I later started supplying the college basketball weekend announcers to Fangs Bites, until I progressed to where it is at today.

I hope to be able to provide you one central location to turn to and find out which network, what time, and which announcers you can expect for this years NCAA Tournament. Since I am trying to include all the content one can want when it comes to finding out your announcers, I was invited to b part of the March Madness Atomic Reach campaign for Cox TV.

The site will be updated throughout the week as the announcing assignment locations are finalized and as game times are set. As the tournament begins on Tuesday, there will be multiple ways to view the tournament. Obviously if you're at home, you can watch the tournament on CBS, TNT, TBS, and truTV. However if you're like me, and I assume most of you are, then listening or watching online or though a mobile device will likely be your daytime source of entertainment.

Dial Global is once again the radio home of the NCAA Tournament. Dial Global Broadcasts can be listened to online through the Dial Global Sports website or at March Madness Live. Dial Global broadcasts can also be listened to the radio through local Dial Global affiliates or SiriusXM. Two mobile device platforms- Slacker and TuneIn Radio will also allow you to listen to the Dial Global broadcasts.

If you have access to a computer or the correct digital provider, you can watch all the coverage online through March Madness Live.

Not only will I provide information on the NCAA Tournament, but you can also catch information on the NIT, CBI, CiT, and the Women's NCAA Tournament here at Eye on Sky and Air Sports. Heck, I might even add in the Women's NIT and Women's Basketball Invitational if I have enough time to do do. March Madness 2013: NIT Tournament Round 1 TV Schedule

Who says the NCAA Tournament is the only tourney to keep an eye on? Certainly not I. Eye on Sky and Air Sports will be doing our best to include all 3 smaller side tournaments- the NIT, CBI, and CiT as part of our Atomic Reach March Madness dedication.

As promised, here is the first round of the NIT as announced earlier on ESPN. Every game in the NIT Tourney will be shown on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or ESPN3. To make them easier to locate, I have color coated each network.

The semifinals and finals will be broadcast on the radio by Dial Global. So do you have a favorite for this years NIT? If so, post it here at Eye on Sky and Air Sports. Don't feel bad, because you're not alone. My favorite team- BYU- is part of the NIT field.

As I learn who the announcers are calling the A10 TV games tomorrow, I will be on to edit the list  and update it. The same thing applies for the Chicago State University Student TV feed, AKA CSU-TV. Announcing subjects are subject to change. If one doe schange, don't freak out. Please just post a note about it in the comments, and I will update i as soon as I can.
