Last year Connecticut upset Michigan State in one of the bigger surprises of the early College Basketball season. Now ESPN is ready to throw out a few more surprises. This year the Armed Forces Classic will be part of ESPN's Veterans Week, and it will feature the defending Pac-12 Champions Oregon against the Big East's Georgetown Hoyas. Below is the press release.
ESPN Announces Georgetown and Oregon to Play in Armed Forces Classic in November

The second installment of the Armed Forces Classic will showcase men’s basketball programs from Georgetown University and the University of Oregon on Friday, Nov. 8. The game will take place at a military installation to be determined as part of ESPN’s Veteran’s Week initiative honoring the men and women who are serving and who have served in the United States military, both at home and abroad.
Georgetown finished the 2012-13 season with a 25-7 record, won a share of the BIG EAST regular-season championship and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Championship.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Armed Forces Classic and for the opportunity to play Oregon,” said Georgetown head coach John Thompson III. “I think it’s important as we prepare for league play to compete against top-flight opponents. At the same time, it’s an honor for Georgetown to be involved in the Veteran’s Week festivities and to recognize the contributions of the United States military.”
Oregon finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 28-9, winning the Pac-12 Conference Championship. The Ducks advanced to the NCAA Championship Sweet 16 as a No. 12 seed knocking off No. 5 Oklahoma State and No. 4 Saint Louis, before falling to eventual national champion and top-seeded Louisville.

The Armed Forces Classic is a series of Division I college men’s basketball games to be played on military bases overseas and is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN.
