NBCSN PRESENTS MORE THAN 15 HOURS OF MOTORSPORTS COVERAGE THIS WEEK, HIGHLIGHTED BY INDYCAR GRAND PRIX OF BALTIMORE
Live Race Coverage Begins at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN
Auctions America Airs Live from Auburn Auction Park Beginning Thursday at 8 p.m. ET
STAMFORD, Conn. – Aug. 28, 2013 – NBCSN will present 15.5 hours of motorsports action this weekend, highlighted by live coverage of the Grand Prix of Baltimore on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. This weekend’s motorsports coverage also includes Grand Prix of Baltimore qualifying, the Firestone Indy Lights Series at Baltimore, and over nine hours of live coverage of Auctions America from their Auburn Fall event.
GRAND PRIX OF BALTIMORE: NBCSN’s coverage of the Grand Prix of Baltimore begins with qualifying on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET. Following live race coverage at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, coverage of Firestone Indy Lights Baltimore, IndyCar’s developmental series, will air on NBCSN at 5 p.m. ET.
Will Power (Penske) earned his first win of the 2013 season last weekend at the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, and will look to continue that success at Baltimore where he took the checkered flag in 2011. Helio Castroneves (Penske) maintains his lead in the IZOD IndyCar Series Points Standings over Scott Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi), who was poised to gain ground at the Grand Prix of Sonoma, but finished 15th after a pit safety infraction late in the race. Ryan Hunter-Reay(Andretti) currently sits third in the IZOD IndyCar Series Points Standings and won at Baltimore last year.
NBC Sports Group’s IndyCar play-by-play voice Leigh Diffey will call the Grand Prix of Baltimore. Diffey will be joined in the booth this week by former drivers Townsend Bell and Wally Dallenbach. Reporters Jon Beekhuis, Kevin Lee, Marty Snider and Robin Miller will manage the pits.
AUCTIONS AMERICA: NBCSN will also air 9.5 hours of live coverage of Auctions America from Auburn Auction Park, the largest purpose-built, dedicated automotive auction facility in the world. Coverage on NBCSN begins on Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. ET, and continues on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
A Labor Day weekend tradition among collector car enthusiasts, Auctions America’s Auburn Fall event is one of the country’s premier celebrations of the hobby. The weekend kicks off with a dedicated memorabilia sale featuring 400 lots from the personal collection of enthusiast, Kirk F. White, on August 28, followed by a more than 1,100 collector car auction August 29 through September 1.
Veteran broadcaster Bill Patrick will lead NBCSN’s live coverage of Auctions America this weekend. He will be joined by NBCSN F1 analyst and former race mechanic for the Benneton F1 team Steve Matchett, and reporter Kelli Stavast.
ARCA Racing rounds out NBCSN’s motorsports coverage this weekend on Friday at 12 a.m. ET.Rick Benjamin, Ken Tretow and Ken Schrader provide ARCA Racing coverage of the Herr’s Live Life With Flavor 200 from Madison International Speedway in Madison, Wisc. on Friday, with NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth making a special guest appearance in the broadcast booth.
