MotorSports All Across ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC this Week (Aug 5- 11)

The Nationwide Series returns to ABC while the Sprint Cup steals Sunday afternoon on ESPN this weekend. Also looking to gain some fame are Global Rallycross, American Le Mans, and NHRA races. Here's the press release highlighting this week in racing from ESPN Media Zone.

NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen
The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will go road course racing this weekend at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. ESPN will have a live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Sunday, Aug. 11, with NASCAR Countdown at noon and the race’s green flag at 1:18 p.m. ET. The NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, Aug. 10, airs on ABC at 2 p.m. with the green at 2:34 p.m. ESPN2 also will air qualifying sessions for both series on Saturday beginning with Nationwide qualifying at 9:30 a.m. All NASCAR programming on ESPN and ESPN2 is also available on computers, smartphones and tablets through WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app. The Watkins Glen schedule:

Global Rallycross Making Atlanta Debut on ESPN2
Atlanta Motor Speedway, which has held races for the top stars of NASCAR since the early 1960s, will host racing of a different kind when Global Rallycross competes at the track for the first time on Saturday, Aug. 10. The event will air on ESPN2 at 6:30 p.m. ET. RallyCross combines the best aspects of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally competition to deliver intense action in a variety of fan-friendly environments. Fans can expect to see door-to-door racing on a combination of dirt and asphalt surfaces, featuring drifting turns, jumps and water elements.

American Le Mans Series at Road America on ABC
The American Le Mans Series races at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., this weekend and ABC will have a live telecast on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. ET. ESPN3 will air qualifying on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10:30 a.m. ESPN3 is accessible online at, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and Apple TV.

Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Action Sunday
The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series has the weekend off but drag racing fans can watch action featuring the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPN2. The one-hour program will include racing from the recent event in Seattle.

NASCAR Now Schedule
ESPN2’s daily NASCAR news and information program NASCAR Now will preview the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International in the one-hour edition airing Sunday, Aug. 11, at 9 a.m. ET. Host Shannon Spake will be joined in the studio by ESPN NASCAR analyst Ricky Craven with reporters Marty Smith and Jim Noble at the track.
