Motor Sports this Week on ESPN

Get ready for more Nationwide Series action and the ain-delayed NHRA Southern Nationals. ESPN2 will have most of the action, but ESPN3 will also air some qualifying. Here's the press release from ESPN.

Motorsports This Week on ESPN

NASCAR Nationwide Series in Prime Time at Darlington
The NASCAR Nationwide Series competes under the lights in prime time at historic Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Friday night, May 10, and ESPN2 will have a live telecast of the 200-mile race. NASCAR Countdown airs at 7 p.m. ET with the race’s green flag at 7:45 p.m. Also from Darlington, ESPN2 will televise qualifying earlier that day at 3:30 p.m. All NASCAR programming on ESPN and ESPN2 is also available on computers, smartphones, tablets and Xbox via WatchESPN, accessible to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

Rain-Delayed NHRA Atlanta Event on ESPN2, ESPN3
The rain-delayed Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series at Atlanta runs this weekend and drag racing fans can watch action on both ESPN2 and ESPN3. ESPN2 will air qualifying on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. and then live coverage of Saturday’s eliminations cranks up on ESPN3 at 11 a.m. Eliminations highlights air Sunday, May 12, at 6 p.m. on ESPN2. All NHRA programming on ESPN networks is also available on computers, smartphones and tablets through WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app. Anchor Dave Rieff and analyst Mike Dunn will call the action.

NASCAR Now Schedule
ESPN2’s daily NASCAR news and information program NASCAR Now will preview the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway in the one-hour edition airing Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. ET. Host Mike Massaro  will be joined by ESPN NASCAR analyst Ricky Craven in the studio with reporters Ryan McGee and Jim Noble at the track. The week’s schedule:

American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca on ESPN2, ESPN3
The American Le Mans Series will hold a four-hour sports car endurance race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Saturday, May 11, at race fans can watch the entire race live on ESPN3, ESPN’s multi-screen live sports network, beginning at 6:15 p.m. ET. Race highlights will air on ESPN2 on Sunday, May 12, at 4 p.m. ESPN3 also will air ALMS qualifying on Friday, May 10, at 7:45 p.m.

ESPN.com — RacingLive! on ESPN.com is a live blog where fans can engage in debate and discussion with ESPN.com writers and editors during the NASCAR Sprint Cup races. On Saturday night, May 11, RacingLive! Darlington will coincide with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway. ESPN Radio — Each weekend morning, ESPN Radio’s RaceDay starts its engines at 6 a.m. ET with host Pat Patterson anchored from the site of that weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings, ESPN Radio’s RaceDay listeners get an hour of news, previews and analysis, as well as profiles and interviews with NASCAR’s biggest names and newsmakers and the involvement of listeners via calls and e-mails. RaceDay also features interviews with newsmakers from the IZOD IndyCar Series from correspondent Bruce Martin. This week, Martin will be previewing the opening weekend of practice for the 97th Indianapolis 500 and have an exclusive interview with A.J. Foyt, the first four-time winner of the Indy 500 and current winning team owner for points leader Takuma Sato. Also, he will be interviewing Roger Penske, the winningest team owner in Indy 500 history with 15 victories.
