Joe Tessitore returns to call this weeks Friday Night Fights on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. However the main event will be a battle of "New" vs. "Old" as 12-0 Eledier "Storm" Alvarez takes on 32-4 "Sweetness" Allan Green in 10 rounds of competition. Also, instead of being at home in the studio, the pregame show with Todd Grisham will originate on site. Here is the ESPN Press Release outlining the event.
The July 5 edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights presented by Corona Extra will feature undefeated Light Heavyweight Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (12-0, 8 KOs) and former Super Middleweight world title challenger “Sweetness” Allan Green (32-4, 22 KOs) in the 10-round Light Heavyweight main event. Friday’s show from the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Conn., will air live at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 HD, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN. The card is promoted by SMS Promotions, which is owned by multiplatinum recording artist and entrepreneur 50 Cent.
Alvarez, a 2008 Colombian Olympian, who lives in Montreal, is coming off a third-round TKO win over Nicholson Poulard.
Friday’s 10-round co-feature will pit former Featherweight titlist Billy “The Kid” Dib (35-2, 21 KOs, The Ring no. 7) of Australia against Connecticut’s Mike “Machine Gun” Oliver (25-3, 8 KOs). Dib will look to rebound from a 12-round split decision loss against Evgeny Gradovich, while Oliver is looking to get back to his winning ways following a second-round knockout loss to former Junior Featherweight and Featherweight titlist Juan Manuel Lopez.
