ESPN announces 13 additional games for GEICO High School Showcase

Remember how ESPN is going to broadcast 13 high school games as part of the High School Football Kickoff. Well, I hope you enjoy those games, because that will be half of ESPN's high school coverage for 2013. ESPN has announced an additional 13 games will be featured on the GEICO High School Showcase Game of the Week. Below are the details from ESPN Media Zone.

11th Annual GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase Schedule Unveiled


45 ESPN 300 players and 23 State Champions Highlight Season-long Coverage 
ESPN, in conjunction with Paragon Marketing Group, will air nine weeks of the nation’s best high school football games during the 11th annual GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The 13 games in the season-long series are in addition to the 13 previously announced ESPN High School Kickoff games. In total, ESPN will feature the country’s leading college football recruits with 45 ESPN 300 players in-action and 23 State Champions taking the field between the 26 slated games in the Kickoff and Showcase.

The Showcase schedule begins Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 p.m. ET on ESPNU with an out-of-state game between Colquitt County (Ga.) at Alabama Class 6A Champion, Hoover (Ala.). Colquitt coach Rush Propst will return to Hoover for the first time since his departure following the 2007 season. The game will also include a top 10 uncommitted recruit with Marlon Humphrey (Hoover CB).

ESPN analyst Rene Ingoglia and play-by-play commentator Adam Amin will be the lead team across networks for ESPN’s high school football games this season.
The unveiled 2013 Showcase games currently features 23 teams in 12 games from 12 states. The schedule includes 10teams that finished as 2012 State Champions: Hoover (Ala.), Godby (Fla.), Katy (Texas), Lake Taylor (Va.), De La Salle (Calif.), John Curtis (La.), Booker T. Washington (Fla.), Bishop Gorman (Nev.), Paramus Catholic (N.J.), and Gainesville (Ga.).The 2013 Showcase will feature 22 ESPN 300 ranked players, including:
  • St. Augustine RB: Leonard Fournette (No. 1, ESPN 300; uncommitted)
  • Paramus Catholic CB: Jabrill Peppers (No. 2, ESPN 300; Michigan)
  • Oscar Smith DT: Andrew Brown (No. 5, ESPN 300; Virginia)
  • Hoover CB: Marlon Humphrey (No. 9, ESPN 300; uncommitted)
  • Gainesville QB: Deshaun Watson (No. 16, ESPN 300; Clemson)
  • John Curtis WR: Malachi Dupre (No. 26, ESPN 300; uncommitted)
  • Chaparral CB: Tyler Whiley (No. 71, ESPN 300; ASU)
  • Desert Mountain QB: Kyle Allen (No. 74 ESPN 300; Texas A&M)
  • Godby OLB: Jacob Pugh (No. 108, ESPN 300; Florida State)
  • Paramus Catholic OT: Juwann Bushell-Beatty (No.122, ESPN 300; Michigan)
  • Booker T. Washington DE: Chad Thomas (No. 125, ESPN 300; Miami)
