Fox Sports 1 to air 7 High School football games live in 2013

I can't decide who is more excited about the upcoming launches: Barclays Premier League on NBCSN or Fox Sports 1 replacing SPEED on Saturday. I say this because NBC is counting down the days with different press releases on Barclays action each day, and Fox Sports 1 seems to make a new schedule announcement or acquisition announcement each day. today the first of two announcements I'll post is about the 2013 High School Football season. Fox Sports 1 has announced they'll air 7 high school games live during the 2013 season. Below are the details from Fox Sports.

FOX SPORTS 1 SHINES LIGHTS ON BEST HIGH SCHOOL
FOOTBALL TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY LIVE THIS FALL

From Texas to Florida and California, Seven-Episode Series Premieres Aug. 23

New York -- Few sporting events evoke as much nostalgia and generational passion as Friday night high school football games. Beginning Aug. 23, FOX HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL heads to towns across the nation, showcasing the greatest prep players on FOX Sports 1, America’s new sports network, debuting Aug. 17.

The seven-episode series showcases the nation’s best high school football teams as they battle their fiercest foes. From Texas to California, Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, New Jersey and Louisiana, the blood, sweat and tears of the gridiron light up the night on high school fields where football is the unequivocal king.

“High school football is a way of life in so many corners of the country,” said Mike Connelly, FOX Sports Networks SVP, Executive Producer. “The sport is truly tribal to their communities. That’s where these young men gut it out every day for the sheer love of the game and the dream of playing ball after high school. FOX Sports 1 shows just how dedicated these kids are, how agonizing their defeats and sweet their victories, in what also could be a glimpse at next year’s college superstars.”

Calling the action on the field are MLB on FOX play-by-play announcer Daron Sutton and analyst Ben Leber, a former NFL linebacker who also is part of FOX COLLEGE FOOTBALL on FOX College Sports (FCS).

FOX HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL encapsulates the electric atmosphere inherent in high school games across the country and the pride teams foster within their respective communities. The series highlights powerhouse squads that travel state-to-state and the significance of each to its town, state and region.

Six cameras, including an “X-MO” and super-slow-motion camera, follow all the action. Other production elements include FX microphones that capture sound on the field and a graphically superimposed 1st & 10 line, among others.
