For fans of Poker, ESPN will be your favorite channel starting Tuesday nights this July. The World Series of Poker returns to ESPN July 23 and will air two hours of coverage each week. At this time no live event coverage will be shown, though I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN3 once again gets to stream some main event coverage live. Here is the press release from ESPN outlining the plans.
ESPN to Present World Series of Poker Main Event
ESPN will televise the 2013 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6, and culminating with two virtually live presentations of the Main Event Final Table on Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5.
To kick off ESPN’s WSOP coverage, the inaugural World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Main Event Final Table will air on Tuesday, July 23, at 9 p.m. ET, featuring Daniel Negreanu going for his fifth gold bracelet. Additionally, the World Series of Poker National Championship Final Table will air on Tuesday, July 30, at 9 p.m, as 2012 Octo-Niner Jeremy Ausmus tries to outlast a field of circuit grinders and tournament pros.
Lead commentator Lon McEachern and analyst Norman Chad return this year, along with roving reporter Kara Scott.
“We’re looking forward to showcasing the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Main Event to our viewers for the first time ever,” said Doug White, ESPN senior director of programming and acquisitions. “WSOP events are always filled with drama and the season leading up to the greatest night of poker—the Final Table in November—will definitely be must-watch television for poker fans.”
Main Event Final Table coverage on Monday, Nov. 4, will continue until three players remain. Main Event Final Table coverage on Tuesday, Nov. 5, will continue until one player remains.
ESPN.com will offer blogs, podcasts and interviews with the game’s top players.
